Good manners are one of the quickest ways to get you to paradise.
Did you know you could reach the status of someone who prays at night and fasts continuously simply because of lofty mannersim?
Did you know with having the best of etiquettes will cause you to be the closest of those sitting next to the prophet salalahu alayhi wasalam?
One of the biggest preventatives of attaining knowledge is to be bad mannered, wether this might be with your teachers, class mates and especially the sinner you see sinning in your society. It could be that one attains a vast amount of knowledge but because of his bad interactions with the creation, his dawah is halted and people will flee away from him.
It appears to me that good manners seem to be lacking these days. Many are taught from childhood how to be polite. They learned to say please and thank you, how to be respectful to our elders, how to be nice to other children and animals.
However, as our society has become more mobile, fast paced, and “I want it now!” the use of manners seems to have decreased. With the rise in divorce rates, a prevalence of drug and alcohol abuse, and increasing world violence; many families are struggling to survive and thrive. Manners are tossed aside.
Take notice, adults having temper tantrums in the fast food drive through, young and old not saying please and thank you but demanding and expecting others to treat them as a King or Queen.
Being rude and insensitive seems to be pretty common these days. Without good manners people get offended and hurt. Communication breaks down.
Being able to say you are sorry and mean it can heal many a wrong. The importance of good manners seems obvious to me but not to others who want to bully, demand, and want entitlement for things not earned
