The prophet Ibraheem destroyed idols with his bare hands as a young boy yet he didn't feel safe from it as Allah mentioned in Surah Ibraheem that he used to make du'a to Allah to protect him and his children from idol worship!
The salaf would say 'Who can feel safe from shirk if Ibraheem AS didn't feel safe from it!'
What further adds to the fear of shirk is that the fact that the Prophet told us that huge portions of this ummah will return back to shirk, worshipping idols and other gods besides Allah! What multiplies this fear in a person's heart is that this shirk will creep up inside of the persons heart undetected as the Prophet SAAS mentioned in the narration in Ahmeds Musnad!
For this reason it is essential protect ourselves from shirk!
This is why i am teaching this new course next week going through the REASONS as to why shirk entered inside of the ummah in the first place! If we can learn the causes of shirk from our history then we can take measures to protect our hearts and souls from it in the future! Remember...history repeats itself!
