Life is filled with sadness, sorrow, depression, pain, suffering, agony...sorry I know I started that in a very grim and dark way!
But it’s true!
Think about it...you live and then you die...
How can you enjoy something that is bound to come to an end?
And even whilst you are alive ...you keep losing your loved ones at regular intervals...just when you started to enjoy life you get that dreaded phone call ‘so and so just passed away!’
Life is HARD!
I used to suffer from depression back in the day...and one thing I couldn’t work out is how people who live the same tough and difficult life as me are still able to ENJOY their life to the max!
Then I read about the Prophet ﷺ who buried his babies with his bare hands, his daughters and wife! He was attacked, beaten, driven out of his home and lied about...he was still the MOST content person! No one was more content and happy and at peace than him!
How?
Why?
Then I came across some ayaat in the Quran and some Hadeeth, statements and teachings of the Salaf...and I too was able to taste that contentment and ease!
My life today is harder now than ever before, I am faced with more trials and tribulations than most can guess...to give you some perspective...every week on Twitter there is another campaign smearing me in one way or another lol...have you ever wondered ‘How does he deal with it?’
Surely that stuff will break a person right?
And that is not even scratching the surface of what I go through alhamdulillah.
But you know what...I’m so cool alhamdulillah.
You know why?
Because although I’m living on this nasty planet with so much evil and sadness ...my happiness is not found in it!
My happiness is internal!
As ibn Taymiyyah said ‘You won’t enter paradise in the next life until you enter the paradise in your heart!’
